Make animal plates with POSCA paint pens

Here is a straightforward method for you and your children to create animal plates using POSCA pens. The key is to become proficient in drawing simple circles, half circles, triangles, and heart shapes.

For this project, you will require mini dishes, POSCA pens in different sizes, and clear varnish.

Try a tiger plate

To make this super cute tiger plate simply follow our step by step…

Step 1, use a yellow POSCA to draw a semi-circle at the bottom of your dish as shown. Now colour in the top section and leave to dry. Then colour in the bottom with a white POSCA.

Once your base colours have dried you can overlay. Use a contrasting POSCA colour like orange to make a strip in the middle of the top section. Then use a black POSCA to draw triangle in the bottom area as shown.

One you’ve got all your basic shapes coloured in you can add in your features such as stripes, whiskers, closed eyes and a little smile!

Rocking robin plate

Creating a robin plate is an easy task. Alter the colors to form a collection of bird companions!

This technique can also be applied to our fox plate with some minor adjustments.

With a red POSCA pen, sketch the top of a rounded heart shape at the top of the plate, ensuring the ‘point’ reaches the center. To depict the fox, draw a deeper shape with the ‘point’ connecting towards the bottom.

After allowing the colored dishes to completely dry, utilize contrasting Posca colors to add highlights, eyes, and beaks. For the eyes, you can opt for simple circles or explore more expressive options, or even depict closed eyes. In the case of the fox, draw a black triangle where the heart intersects and round off the top. Following that, delicately draw a thin line with a soft diamond shape at the bottom to represent the mouth.
